Dear Sirs:
Please accept this correspondence as the comments of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and One Voice Coalition regarding the Proposed Rescission of the 2001 Roadless Rule (hereinafter, “the Proposal”). The AMA and One Voice support the desire to more effectively and efficiently manage public lands and improve public access to public lands as expressed in President Trump’s MABA Executive Order and Executive Order 14408. The AMA and One Voice believe it is critical to balance all uses under the multiple-use mandate in 16 USC 528et seq. and ensure all values are delivered at high performance levels. These efforts to reform the management of Inventoried Roadless Areas are critical to ensuring regulations effectively achieve this goal and preventing historical challenges to public use of these lands from returning. The agency's management of these areas during review has been highly complex for more than 75 years. This complexity has hindered public engagement, public use of these areas, and agency partnerships needed to ensure all values perform at high levels. Read the full comment letter here.
